Ai Video Short Film Cinematic Narrative Environment Shots Character Shots Google Contest A List Director

Job Description

Job: AI Video Artist for Short Film with A‑List Director (Google Short Film Contest)

We’re looking for an experienced AI video artist to jump in immediately and help generate shots for a short film directed by an A‑list, award‑winning filmmaker. The project is being produced for a Google‑sponsored short film competition, with a firm submission deadline of December 5.

This is a fast, intense sprint ideal for someone already deep in AI video tools and workflows who can plug into an existing creative direction and deliver polished, cinematic results under tight timelines.

Project & Scope

• Narrative short film (~7–8 minutes) with:

• Desert sequences (American Southwest, ranch house, dirt road, surreal elements)

• World War II combat sequence (mud, smoke, chaos, gas masks, trench/ruined town energy)

• 1940s ship ballroom (tuxedoed band, clarinet player, glamorous ballroom, red‑haired lead)

• You’ll support the lead AI artist on:

• Environment and character shots

• Complex transitions between “realities” (e.g., View‑Master / stereoscope driven worlds)

• Select hero shots where consistency and atmosphere matter most

What You’ll Do

• Generate high‑quality AI video shots based on:

• Locked script pages, visual references, and detailed shot briefs

• Maintain visual continuity:

• Character look (age, race, wardrobe, face structure)

• Environments (desert house/road, war zone, ship ballroom)

• Props (vintage View‑Master, clarinet, wheelchair, etc.)

• Work within a defined pipeline:

• Primary generation at 720p

• Upscaling to 4K (Topaz Video AI) and adding filmic texture (grain, halation, imperfections)

• Collaborate quickly via chat/Zoom:

• Respond to notes

• Iterate on problematic shots (faces, motion, artifacts)

Requirements

• Proven experience with AI image/video tools, for example:

• Runway / Pika / Stable Video / Sora‑style tools / custom pipelines

• Stable Diffusion (video workflows, Deforum, AnimateDiff, etc.)

• Experience with character‑consistent generation a strong plus

• Strong eye for cinematic composition, lighting, and period detail (WWII, 1940s)

• Comfortable with:

• Working from references (photography like Roy DeCarava, classic cinema, ballroom imagery)

• Minimizing the “plastic” AI look and adding human imperfection

• Ability to start immediately and work through Dec 4–5 as needed

• Reliable upload speeds and ability to deliver intermediate exports quickly

Nice to Have

• Prior work on narrative AI shorts (3+ minute pieces), especially with:

• Keeping the same character across many shots

• War/battle environments OR period interiors (ballrooms, ships, hotels)

• Familiarity with:

• Topaz Video AI

• Film emulation / grading tools (DaVinci, plugins, LUT workflows)

Engagement Details

• Timeline: Now through Dec 5 (hard deadline for contest submission)

• Type: Freelance / short‑term contract

• Location: Remote

• Compensation: Flat project fee, commensurate with experience and workload (to be discussed)

How to Apply (ASAP)

Email with subject line: “AI Video Artist – Floyd Project” and include:

1 Portfolio links (Vimeo/YouTube/website) highlighting:

• AI‑generated video work

• Any narrative or character‑consistent pieces

2 Brief note on:

• Your AI tools stack and workflow

• Your availability between now and Dec 5

3 Any relevant behind‑the‑scenes notes (how you handled consistency, upscaling, imperfection, etc.)

We are reviewing on a rolling basis and will move fast.
