As the Creative Director at Latent Space Media, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the artistic direction of a fully AI-generated film, combining a deep understanding of traditional filmmaking with the innovative potential of AI technologies. The role requires both a strong background in principal photography (DP) and a deep knowledge of AI-driven video tools. You will be responsible for leading the creative vision, overseeing prompt engineering, and ensuring that our projects retain the cinematic qualities of classic films while utilizing the latest in AI technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the creative vision of a feature-length film, collaborating closely with producers, AI video artists, and technical teams to develop concepts and execute them from script to screen.
Oversee principal photography, blending traditional cinematography with AI-driven techniques, ensuring a seamless integration of both worlds to achieve high-quality visuals that honor cinematic traditions.
Work hands-on with AI video tools (e.g., WAN, LTX, Runway, etc.) to refine prompts, optimize visual assets, and deliver innovative content that stands out on both theatrical and streaming platforms.
Serve as the lead on prompt engineering, crafting detailed and effective prompts for AI tools to generate visual content, ensuring consistency and alignment with the overall artistic direction.
Supervise the entire production process, including pre-production, principal photography, post-production, and visual effects, while maintaining the integrity of the film’s creative vision.
Manage a hybrid team of AI artists, traditional cinematographers, AI Gen specialists, and editors, ensuring collaboration between traditional filmmaking and AI-driven processes.
Present creative concepts, rough cuts, and final films to stakeholders, including investors, studio partners, and streaming platforms, while ensuring alignment with commercial and artistic goals.
Stay at the cutting edge of both filmmaking and AI technology, continually exploring and integrating new tools and techniques to enhance our projects.
Navigate ethical and intellectual property considerations in the use of AI-generated content, ensuring that all creative decisions respect industry standards and legal frameworks.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Creative Director, Director of Photography (DP), or in a similar senior creative role, with a focus on feature film production.
Strong background in traditional cinematography, with hands-on experience in principal photography, lighting, and visual storytelling.
Deep knowledge of AI video tools and generative technologies, including platforms like Runway, LTX, WAN, Stable Diffusion, MidJourney, and similar generative AI tools.
Expertise in prompt engineering for AI-driven video tools, with a track record of creating effective, cinematic outputs using AI-generated content.
Familiarity with industry-standard production and post-production tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, Avid, or similar, as well as visual effects platforms (e.g., Houdini, Blender, Unreal).
Experience overseeing the entire creative process, from ideation to final delivery, ensuring the highest standards of storytelling and visual quality.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide both creative and technical teams to bring complex projects to life.
A passion for exploring the intersection of traditional filmmaking and AI, with a forward-thinking approach to the creative potential of new technologies.
Bonus Skills:
Experience working with virtual production tools (e.g., Unreal Engine, LED walls).
Proven knowledge of end-to-end green-screen workflows—including on-set lighting, spill suppression, plate matching, and final compositing in [After Effects / Nuke / Resolve Fusion]—with a show-reel that demonstrates seamless key pulls in narrative, commercial, and virtual-production settings.
Familiarity with ethical challenges and legal considerations in the use of AI in creative industries.
A background in visual effects, animation, or digital art.
