Job Description
Function Health is the fastest-growing health startup in the U.S., and we’re building a creative team that’s anything but traditional. **Function Labs** is our internal R&D studio for brand storytelling—focused on experimentation, speed, and bold new formats. Within it lives **Team Signal**, a micro-pod of 2–3 hybrid creators tasked with making the most inventive content of their careers.
As a **Content Futurist**, your mission is simple: **make the best thing you’ve ever made—every single week**.
You’ll ideate, create, and ship one piece of content per week, working independently with room to collaborate when it fuels the idea. One week it might be a reel. The next, an AI-generated visual story or an interactive concept prototype. You’ll pull from whatever tools or tricks you have—stock libraries, After Effects, 3D workflows, voice gen, AI, experimental renderers—whatever helps you bring the idea to life. You’re not here to brief others. **You’re here to create.**
Every week ends with a roundtable discussion—an open, casual share-out of what we made, what we tried, what broke, and what surprised us. Then, at the end of each month, the team creates a short round-up video that highlights the best content and what we learned—shared with the rest of Function to inspire and inform.
This isn’t about managing. This is about making.
**Responsibilities**
•
**Make Something Great—Every Week**
•
Concept, design, and produce **one standout piece of content per week**.
•
Use whatever tools are necessary—AI, stock, 3D, editing, voice gen, illustration, animation.
•
Stay focused on originality, speed, and impact.
•
Deliver content that surprises, resonates, and pushes boundaries.
•
**Creative Autonomy (with Light Collaboration)**
•
While part of a 2–3 person team, you’ll largely own your lane and your work.
•
Collaborate with other Content Futurists or pod designers when it benefits the idea, but this role thrives in solo flow.
•
You are the artist at the wheel—responsible for end-to-end execution.
•
**Tool Exploration & Workflow Hacking**
•
Stay on the edge of creative technology—whether it’s a trending AI tool, a plugin, or a new workflow.
•
Hack together whatever systems you need to bring ideas to life.
•
Reach for outside talent only when it truly elevates the vision—this opportunity is built for the hands-on creator.
•
**Weekly Reflection & Monthly Share-Out**
•
Participate in end-of-week roundtable discussions to share what you made, learned, or ran into.
•
At the end of each month, help create a short **Team Signal recap video** that showcases key pieces and learnings—shared with the broader Function team.
**Deliverables**
•
One original piece of content per week (format varies: video, animation, prototype, mixed media, etc.)
•
Contribution to monthly **Team Signal Round-Up** (video + internal share-out)
**Team & Collaboration**
•
**Reports To:** Aaron McGuire
•
**Works With:** Other Content Futurists, occasional Pod Designers, and broader Brand Innovation team
•
**Team Structure:** Tight-knit but lane-driven—you're building alongside others, not blending into them
**Ideal Candidate Profile**
•
**Creative Powerhouse:** You’re most alive when you’re making.
•
**Tool-Agnostic Explorer:** You’re always trying new creative tools and techniques, from motion to AI to experimental formats.
•
**Fast & Fearless:** You move quickly, aren’t afraid of weird ideas, and treat every week as a fresh creative challenge.
•
**Independent but Generous:** You like your creative space but love a good ideas jam, especially when it leads to something better.
•
**Story-First, Platform-Fluent:** You understand how to make a message land in a scroll, a click, or a pause.
**This Role Is For You If...**
•
You’re tired of meetings and just want to make.
•
You have a portfolio that doesn’t fit neatly into “designer” or “editor” or “animator”—because it’s all of those.
•
You’ve got a few wild ideas you’ve never had the time or freedom to test—until now.
•
You believe content can be art, experiment, education, and influence—all at once.
•
You’ve got something to prove. Or something to play with. Or both.
